MLK DAY
January 16th, 2023
Welcome to the Watertown Annual
MLK Day Unity Breakfast
Monday, January 16, 2023 @ 10am
Each year, the residents of Watertown Massachusetts come together to celebrate civil rights and to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders by recommitting to foundational principles of racial, social and economic justice.
JOIN US
The past several years have been challenging ones for our country and our community. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought heartbreak and hardship to people in all walks of life and exacerbated the staggering economic inequality that plagues our country. The ongoing police violence against black and brown people has fractured communities, laid bare the racism that still profoundly afflicts our country and galvanized millions to demand justice and racial reckoning. In this difficult climate, our community Unity Breakfast is more important than ever.
Please join us on MLK Day as we reaffirm our shared values, celebrate our differences, honor those who have made our community stronger and re-commit ourselves to ending prejudice, racism, and economic injustice in our city.
Keynote Speaker

introducing the Unity Breakfast scholarship funds
Beginning in 2023, we are proud to announce the creation of a scholarship fund for two recipients designed to support extraordinary young people in the Watertown community who show immense promise as agents of change.
The two Visionary Awards will be given to high school or middle school students who present their compelling vision for a more just and equal future in the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr and other civil rights leaders. Their vision can be demonstrated through practical action or expressed in prose, poetry, visual or performing art, film etc.
